I received a message from Priya Kumar, a doctoral student at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, and who recently completed a TEDx Talk (see above) about the role of the web in the South Asian diaspora:
My name is Priya and I am a doctoral student in Politics at SOAS London. I did a TEDx talk in May about hybrid identities and the web, and I used your blog as an example of South Asian based blogging. The talk was a hit, and I had many Sikh men come to after and express their gratitude over my discussion of Turban wearing.
Priya’s discussion is quite revealing about the state of Sikh blogging (and I was flattered that she cited this blog explicitly) and how South Asians, and Sikhs in particular, are exploring our “hybrid” identities in the west.
