After we learned about Dipanjot Singh, another Sikh athlete in the NCAA has come to light. From sikhchic.com:

Sophomore Amrit Kaur Bhinder fenced her way to All-America status on the final day of fencing at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championships as the Quakers finished eighth overall in the event.

Amrit finished seventh overall with 13 victories in epee to be named second-team All-America. She is the first second-team All-America selection for the Quakers since Abigail Emerson earned the honor in foil 2007. She is the first epeeist to be to be a first or second-team All-American since 2005 when Holly Buechel was a first team selection.

What makes Amrit Kaur’s story compelling is that she’s a female Sikh athlete competing in fencing – a sport that brings to mind the Sikh’s martial tradition.
