Tracy, CA Sikhs helping the community, cont’d

The event by Tracy’s Sikh community to give away warm jackets and clothing has reportedly benefited hundreds of families:

The coordinator’s for Saturday’s event was the Sikh community in Tracy. Lines grew to more than 400 people deep, and an estimated 2,000 people were expected to benefit from the day’s event that was held at the Larch Clover Community Center. The group plans to hold additional warm-clothing giveaways in Manteca, Modesto and Turlock, the dates of which have yet to be announced.

The event was held in memory of the two younger sons of Sikhism’s tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, who were kidnapped and executed in 1705 by the Mughal government in India for refusing to convert to Islam. Read about their story here.
