“We welcome the Sikh community to Hamden,” said [Hamden Planning and Zoning] commission chairman Ann Altman.
As reported on the Hamden Patch, the town of Hamden, Connecticut (which interestingly describes itself as the “Land of the Sleeping Giant”) will soon be the home to a new Gurdwara:
The [Sikh] community has about 40 members, [Attorney Bernard] Pelligrino told the commission, and there is ample parking on the site…
…”The Sikhs are an active community and we think they will bring a benefit to the town of Hamden,” he said. “It will be a benefit to the community as they are in other areas of the state.”
It’s certainly refreshing to hear the optimistic attitude regarding the Gurdwara from the Town of Hamden and the local Sikh community.
