After having been shot twice in Port Orange, Florida during a suspected hate-based attack in February, Kanwaljit Singh and his family have been facing financial difficulties during his recovery. A fund has now been established to offer financial support.
Coordinated Sikh Coalition and SALDEF advisories alert us to the dire financial straits that Kanwaljit Singh’s family is now in:
Since the purported hate crime attack, Mr. Singh and his family, including his wife and two children, have suffered from significant financial problems. Due to Mr. Singh’s medical condition, he is unable to return to work at his convenience store. The family is behind in paying utility bills and purchasing inventory to keep the store open. They are in serious risk of losing their business, barely two months after it first opened, because of this violent, senseless, and terrifying attack.
Non-tax deductible donations to help support Kanwaljit Singh’s family can be made by mailing a check to:
Mr. Kanwaljit Singh
c/o Sikh Society of Central Florida
2527 W. State Road 426
Oviedo, FL 32765
Certainly, any amount will be of financial assistance to Kanwaljit Singh and, just as importantly, it would be a measure of community support for the family during these difficult times.
Such an attack is so sickening. When will we ever wake up to the fact that violence is just so stupid.
The slugs must have been recovered in surgery. There is a reasonable expectation that the slugs would be analyzed for barrel signatures. Either the barrel signature was never taken from the firearm in question or something more nefarious such as a barrel scrubbing and subsequent destruction of the firearm. One cannot leave out the Blue Wall of Silence.
