Fresno’s Sikhs are active this weekend

Sikhs in Fresno, California are holding a parade tomorrow to celebrate the birth of Guru Nanak, who was born in 1469 in present-day Pakistan and founded Sikhism:

The parade will head to downtown Fowler, where parade participants will ask blessings upon the community, and return to the temple. The parade calls attention to California Sikh American Awareness and Appreciation Month in November and educate the community about Sikhism in an effort to foster peace, harmony and understanding.
That’s not all.  Yesterday, Sikhs from the area also made a $20,000 donation to Poverello House, a facility that serves the hungry and homeless in Fresno – a cause that truly reflects many of Guru Nanak’s teachings.
