In their upcoming issue, GQ Britain is publishing their ranking of the world’s top 10 best dressed men on Thursday. An American makes the list at number two, and he happens to be a turban-wearing Sikh [emphasis added]:
Penelope Cruz’s husband was feted by editors of the British version of the publication in its 2011 poll, with Indian-born jewellery designer and actor Waris Ahluwalia and Swedish True Blood hunk Alexander Skarsgard placing second and third, respectively.
Waris Ahluwalia hails from New York. An actor, jewellery designer and celebrity hobnobber, Ahluwalia was also recently featured in the American version of GQ, as he detailed his 10 fashion essentials:
Waris Ahluwalia’s path to where he is now—jewelry designer, part-time actor, BFF to a crapload of celebrities—may seem like an accident, but it’s not. He’s a bona fide master of charm. And while that certainly helps, he’s also got the talent and savvy to push his jewelry label, House of Waris, at fashion hotspots from Paris to Hong Kong to LA.
What makes him so stylish? Perhaps the answer to the question comes from another ranking of Britain’s best dressed, in which GQ describes what makes for a stylish man – standing out from the crowd:
…you will swiftly spot that there are no hard and fast rules as to what particular look will do the job for today’s gentleman. From Savile Row to streetwear, 2011’s pick of the bunch habitually sports a vast range of different looks. And quite right, too. Like GQ itself, this list is all about expressing the best a man can be, rather than sticking to a strict party line.
You can see just how Ahluwalia expresses himself at Vanity Fair.
