Picture of the Day: Navpreet Kaur, 17, from Lake Stevens, WA

The Bellingham Herald in Washington State provides a profile of Navpreet Kaur, a graduating senior at Lake Stevens High School near Marysville, Washington: Navpreet, 17, was born in a village in Punjab, India. Her family moved to California when she was 8 and shortly after moved to Bellingham. The family moved to Marysville a few years later, and she went to school in Lake Stevens. Harjeet Singh Sandhu owns a sign-making business in New York, but his passion is his art: Sandhu, a 63-year old artist and signmaker in the Bronx, has crafted an artful mosaic portrait of Mayor Bloomberg that he wants to present to Hizzoner. “He is my mayor,” Sandhu said. “Some things he does, sometimes people don’t like it. Picture of the Day: Nagar Kirtan near Seattle, WA

Picture of the Day: Vaisakhi celebrations in Anderson, CA

Picture of the Day II: National Day of Prayer in KY

Davinder Singh Brar represented the Sikh Society of Kentucky at the National Day of Prayer event in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. The Society recently opened the first Gurdwara in that state, and so it’s great to see that congregation participate in their community’s interfaith activities.
